Kerr County Centennial Parade -- 1956

The 100th anniversary of the creation of Kerr County was quite a big deal in the life of our community.  My collection of historic items of Kerrville and Kerr County includes a few movies -- and this movie, taken by Francis and Jean Dreiss, was shot in April, 1956.

Please feel free to share this video with your friends -- especially those who were actually in the 1956 parade!

  1. This is fascinating. Amy and I were surprised at how elaborate some of the floats were. Here we are 60 years later (almost) and our floats aren't half as good.

Also, the white/black bands really gave us pause. Not everything was better back then.

  2. I'm amazed how fast everyone walked and drove back then. I thought things were slower then.
    Thanks for all you do.

  3. Tre: I'm afraid I do not know. I didn't put together the video -- I think it was burned to DVD by the Tivy Media Lab.
