A hunting party, Kerr County, around 1905

I thought these gentlemen were slightly overdressed for their excursion, but times change.  I'm not sure where they are, but I'm fairly sure it was here in Kerr County, and from the other images in the set, I'm guessing the images were all taken around 1905.  If you can identify any of the hunters, please let me know in the comments section below.

  1. I can't help you with the people, but I can help with the hardware.

In Pic 1, that is a Winchester 1903 or Winchester 03 (Same gun, different name) based on the year that you estimate the picture. It could be a Winchester 63, but the picture would need to be post 1933. The Winchester 1903 was the first commercially available semiautomatic .22 caliber rifle, but used it's own unique ammunition called the ".22 Winchester Automatic", and not the .22 Long Rifle we all know today.

In the last picture I want to say that it is a Stevens Crack Shot. But i am not 100 percent on that. Let me check some resources.

  2. Ah-ha! Found it. I knew I had seen that flatsided stock before.... It's a Hamilton model 27 "Boy's Rifle":

You can see that semicircle stock attachment and screw behind his hand, and just a bit of that curlicue trigger guard tail/ grip.
The Hamilton 27 was made between 1907 and 1930, and sold mailorder for the princely sum of $2.55

  3. Awesome! Thanks "That Guy!"

I think in pic 3 the case around his neck is for a camera, probably a Kodak Jr.

  4. I'm wondering if pic number 3 is of a man who is taking a youngster hunting, and also carrying a camera for the young person. I think the case around his neck is for a Kodak Jr. camera; and "That Guy" has identified the rifle as a youngster's single shot rifle.
