Steve Meeker, the son of Jerrie Goss Meeker, sent along this photo of the construction crew at the American Legion Hospital, taken around 1922. "My mother Jerrie (Goss) Meeker was born in a tent on the grounds of the VA in 1922. Her father, Oliver Goss, was a mason doing construction on the hospital. Two years later, my uncle Richard was also born in the same tent. According to mom the tent had a cement floor and a half wall, but the upper wall and top was of canvas, perhaps left over from WW I. "
I like the cutline the
Kerrville Mountain Sun gave the photo when they published it in the 1980s. Thanks, Steve, for sharing these with all of us.
