Tonight the city invited "donors" to a reception at the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library, the evening before the grand opening Saturday, March 31st, at 9 am. I'm not sure why Carolyn and I were invited, since I don't remember donating anything. Perhaps Carolyn donated something. Anyway, while I was there my
journalism* gene kicked in, and I snapped a few photos. I hope to see you tomorrow at the grand opening event, and I hope you like the snaps I took.

DeleteI am so very glad that the library was remodeled.
ReplyDeleteI love to see older buildings refurbished instead of being destroyed (such as my beloved Ice Plant and Blue Bonnet Hotel buildings).
It will serve the population very well for many years.
I have one concern.
Joe, did you say that the children's area is upstairs?
If so, those stairs are very dangerous for little ones to maneuver. Plus, the upstairs walkway, shown in the photos, has nothing but a low rail to prevent children from falling.
Surely, I misunderstood and the children's area is downstairs.
I'm sorry I was unclear. The children's section is downstairs. They enclosed the old first floor balcony to make the new children's space; however, the first floor balcony is over above ground "basement" in the rear of the building. The site slopes toward the river. Not sure if I'm making sense here.
