A lot of people have very happy memories of the Cascade Pool, which was in downtown Kerrville from the 1920s through the 1960s. The pool was in the 700 block of Water Street, about where Bank of America is today, the part of the bank in the back, parallel to the river. If you have memories of this pool, please add them to the comment section below, so other visitors can enjoy them.

what building is that skyscraper?
ReplyDeleteThat pool was very beautiful. Because it was located in the downtown area, it was also convenient.
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves (often it does not), in the early part of the 1900's there was a fire station in front of the pool.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in my files I have an old photo of the members of the fire department standing in front of the station, with the pool in the background.
In this photo, you can see part of the Blue Bonnet Hotel. What a beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteWhile walking from the dressing room to the pool, you had to walk under a shower head.
ReplyDeleteThat was the coldest water that I have ever encountered.
@anonymous, if you look at Joe's blog from October 26th, 2010--"A New Photo of the Cascade....", it looks like there is a gargage with 2 fire trucks in it and several fireman, possibly, out front. I think your memory serves you correctly!!;-)
ReplyDeleteI remember swimming lessons in that pool. I had forgotten about the shower, but I sure remember it now.
