Joe's new book: Kerrville Stories

Kerrville Stories: Historic Photographs and Newspaper Columns
Delivers Thanksgiving
I'm happy to announce I've sent my second book to the printing press, and I expect them back from the bookbinders around Thanksgiving.  It's 192 pages, hardcover, with a dust jacket, and is a collection of some of my columns published in the Kerrville Daily Times since 1994.  Like my last book, this one is a "coffee table" style book, but this one has some big differences.  First, it has more than just historic photographs; it also has some of my columns about Kerrville and our history.  Many of you have requested a collection of my columns, and this is it.  I've also included an index (and page numbers!) this time.
The cover design (above) is by our daughter, Elizabeth Layton.
Like last time, the book will only be available at Wolfmueller's Books and at Herring Printing Company.  You can also pre-order the book (and save a little $) prior to its publication.
So many people have helped to make this next book possible, and I'm very grateful.

  1. Joe,

I'm very happy that your second book will soon be available.

In addition, I really like the photo that will be on the cover of the book.

Speaking of the cover photo, there appears to be an optical illusion in the picture.

In the photo, I see a tall building right behind the Arcadia sign. Is it the Blue Bonnet Hotel that truly is part of an optical illusion, or at one time, was there a tall building that was part of the Arcadia Theater?

P.S. You said that we could pre-order your book at your printing company. For those of us who live far away, may we pre-order online?

  3. I want to pre-order copies of your book. Using the online ordering option, the shipping cost is $4.95 per copy. Like with your last book, wll you offer an option to pick up the book at at your shop and forego the shipping cost?
